Steel Pickling
What is Steel Pickling?
Steel pickling occurs when carbon, black steel (among other metals) has impurities or stains removed. This process improves the surface condition of the coil. A brief video displaying how the process works can be seen below.
Maksteel Pickle Line
Maksteel’s pickling line is located at our Dearborn, MI facility. It encompasses 491 feet. Several parts of the line were upgraded in early 2020 in order to better serve our valued customers. These upgrades included the elimination of mechanical pitting, improvement of edge-to-edge dryness (thus preventing pooling in the middle) and enhancement of foundation leveling. The latter helps improve coil threading.
Parsytec
Our advanced coil monitoring system, Parsytec, is used to record defects down the coil. A report on the data is then generated and run on every coil on the line. Customers may request full access to these reports upon request.
